COME rain or shine four bikers took on a trip along the coastline of the England and Scotland to travel from Lands End to John O’Groats on coastal roads.
Gary Mercer, Jerry Appleton, Tommy Aton and John Davies took 10 days to complete the charity challenge in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice and travelled 2,225 miles to avoid motorways on the trip.
The team rode for between six to 10 hours a day and took in iconic landmarks such as Cheddar Gorge and Stonehenge.
Gary said: “We stayed in hotels and B&Bs, and everywhere we stayed we felt very welcome. We stopped to get a bite to eat at a shop in Scotland, and even the shopkeeper made a donation after asking what we were doing.
“We’d like to thank the following sponsors: Golden Gates Housing, Lymm Engine Components, Hammer & Tongs, J&S Accessories of Northwich and Sainsburys, as well as everybody that made a donation. We’re expecting to raise over £2,000 for this great cause.”
