GOVERNMENT transport officials were left with red faces this morning after they placed Warrington in the north east.
An official announcement on funding for 44 new green travel plans across the UK included a number of geographical errors.
Among them, in the official press release, was that Warrington was in the north east - some 160 miles from its actually location.
The department blamed the blunder on a 'data source issue'.
Warrington will receive £865,000 as part of the grant for more than £5million worth of investment in schemes to help people get to work.
The money will especially help people get to work in Omega.
The packages include personalised travel planning activities in west Warrington; improving cycling and walking for the key travel to work corridors; and improving public transport for the key bus routes and rail stations.
These measures will build on the existing Warrington Sustainable Travel Triangle LSTF project.
