A STAR of the culinary world visited a Birchwood charity he has helped to the tune of £8,000.

Aiden Byrne, owner of the Church Green in Lymm, dropped into Brainwave last week as part of the town’s Disability Awareness Week.

A firm supporter of the charity, Aiden, the youngest chef in the UK to earn a michelin star, met some of the children the centre helps.

Brainwave, the Warrington Guardian’s charity of the month for June, helps children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence Aiden said: ‘Family is very important to me and my wife Sarah, as is our community and the people within it.

“When we were looking for a charity to support, we knew we wanted something that had some association to all of those elements, and Brainwave was the perfect choice.

“It’s always an inspiration to visit Brainwave and see first-hand the great work they do.”

Brainwave community manager Joanne Freeman said: ‘On behalf of the families we support, I’d like to thank Aiden for all his hard work and generosity.

“His fundraising is making a huge difference to the children who visit our Birchwood Centre.”

Aiden, who recently opened a new fine dining restaurant in Manchester, helped raised £8,000 after making Brainwave his charity of the year.

This is enough to help two new children onto the programme.

During his visit, Aiden met the Brainwave team who support children through therapy programmes that are tailored to meet their needs.

He also had a chance to meet the families of three young children attending on the day: 18-month-old Sophia Holnes, two-year-old Eva Abbrell and nine-year-old Lilly Halam.
