IT was hailed as a ‘dream come true’ when pupils, staff and parents attended the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday to mark the beginning of the building work of the future home of the King’s Leadership Academy.
The new school building, which will be located on the playing fields on Hillock Lane, will be completed by September 2015 with the foundations to be put down at the end of the month.
Chief executive Sir Iain Hall said: “It has been a really hard slog, but I stand by what I said in the beginning - we are not going to give up. This school will be here in 12 months’ time, and we will be walking into it a year from September.”
Principal Shane Ierston added: “We are privileged to be part of the cog that has made this happen. A dream has come to life and it will continue in the new school.”
A time capsule will also be buried in the grounds to be opened in 25 years.
