A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been rushed to hospital with serious leg injuries after falling from a road bridge near Birchwood Station.
British Transport Police were called at 7.10am to a reports of a body on the line.
A spokesman added: “Our officers attended, alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service, and discovered a 39-year-old local man had fallen from a nearby road bridge and sustained serious injuries to his legs.
“The man, who was assessed at the scene, has been taken to Wythenshawe Hospital for further treatment.
“The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”
The line is now open between Warrington Central and Manchester Oxford Road but knock-on cancellations and delays of up to 60 minutes are expected until around 9.45am.
