THE council’s youth service could see staffing numbers cut as part of a redesign.
Staff in the department and young people are currently being consulted about the restructuring but final decisions have yet to be made.
A spokesman for Warrington Borough Council said they were ‘committed to retaining a local authority led targeted youth service and maintaining the current terms and conditions of its staff.’
“Like all authorities however, we are facing financial challenges. We know the needs of young people in Warrington are changing and want to make sure timely and easily accessible support is given to those who need us the most.
“The aim of the redesign is to protect frontline services for the most vulnerable young people that are in need of targeted support, but making the service more flexible and efficient to respond to changing funding arrangements.
“The proposed redesign affects all youth workers. In the current structure there are 28.8 full time equivalents and the proposal is to move to 22.6 full time equivalents.”
