POLICE are appealing for information after a man suffered a broken cheekbone during an assault in Latchford.

Officers say the 35-year-old victim was heading home, walking along Knutsford Road, when he saw two men next to a kitchen showroom.

After walking onto York Street the victim heard footsteps behind him, and was punched in the face as he turned around.

Police say the attack carried on as he lay on the floor, leaving him with a broken right cheekbone, and cuts below his right eye that needed stitches.

The incident happened at 4am on Sunday.

DC Steve Deehan, from Cheshire Police, said: "This was a nasty attack that has left a man with serious injuries.

“We are committed to doing all we can to trace whoever is responsible and are urging anyone who has any information, which could assist with our enquiries to come forward.”

Police say there is no description available of the suspects.
