THE annual Tom Sephton Memorial Trophy will be taking place again this June and organisers need you.
Held on June 28, Armed Forces Day, Crosfields ARLFC in Great sankey will play host to the tournament in memory of the popular Great Sankey soldier, who was killed in Afghanistan in July 2010.
On the day Crosfields Ladies ARLFC will play Army Rugby League Ladies from 11.30am before a team from Tom’s regiment, The 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment, will play the 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment at 1.30pm for the Coleridge Cup, named after the soldier Tom Coleridge who suffered life-changing injuries serving his country just days after Tom’s death.
The final game of the day will see Crosfields ARLFC take on 2013 Army Rugby League champions The Royal Logistics Corps at 3.30pm.
Entry is free with cash raised from a tombola and raffle going to the Army Benevolent Fund-The Soldiers Charity.
