A LATCHFORD youngster who has had multiple holes in her heart fixed now hopes to raise cash for the other ‘poorly boys and girls’ at Alder Hey.

Mia Persoglio, aged four, has launched a fundraising campaign with her dad to say thank you after doctors at the Liverpool children’s hospital performed innovative heart surgery.

The bubbly youngster was three-months-old when she became one of just 10 babies across the world to have a remote control band fitted on her artery to control the flow of blood to her lungs.

She went on to have a further two heart surgeries but one year on from her final operation, which closed the largest hole in her heart, Mia is now an energetic, happy, four-year-old ready to start school in September.

As well as setting up a dedicated text campaign and joining forces with Mia’s nursery Kids Planet to hold a ‘Disney dress-up day’, Mia’s dad Christian is embarking on a trek across the Great Wall of China in September.

The 39-year-old will be taking on the five-day challenge with family friend Carl Wormald to raise £6,000 for Alder Hey’s Imagine Appeal to give something back to the life-saving hospital after Mia's final operation in May 2013.

Christian added: “We wanted to say thank you for everything that this incredible hospital has done to save Mia's life.

“She's been through so much and is such a bubbly, happy little girl who is full of life.

“It only seemed right that we do something in return for the incredible surgeons, doctors and nurses and this seemed like the best way. “Some of the surgery Mia has had has been ground-breaking and only made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of those who took her life into their hands and we will be forever thankful to them.”

To donate, visit or by texting MIAP60, plus the amount £x, to 70070.

The family are also hoping to get their kit, including boots and jackets, sponsored by an outdoor company.
