THE town will be awash with dancers, singers and Bollywood music when it celebrates Warrington’s rich and diverse cultures later this year.

Warrington’s MELA will bring together different communities on Sunday 10 August from 11am to 5pm at Queens Gardens.

MELAs are traditionally an Asian celebration but the Warrington Ethnic Communities Association decided to break away from the norm and instead celebrate the different cultures in Warrington.

The day will consist of events ranging from Bhangra, Polish and Russian dancing, singers, a Tabla performance and Bollywood Music.

There will also be the opportunity to sample cuisine from around the world and fairground rides and a bouncy castle to keep youngsters entertained.

Clr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “This MELA is a wonderful, colourful celebration of Warrington’s different cultures and communities and has become a regular feature in the town’s event calendar.

“It’s going to be a great event and so I would encourage everyone to come along and join in.”
