THE way residents register to vote in elections is changing.
Individual Electorial Registration is being introduced across the country and it means everyone will now be registered individually rather than by households.
Between August 7 and 17, residents in the borough will be receiving a letter from their Electoral Registration Officer informing them of the change to the system and whether they need to re-register and what to do.
Most will not have to do anything but around 10 per cent of residents will not be automatically transferred to the new electoral register.
From tomorrow if you move home or are registering for the first time you can do this by visiting gov.uk/register-to-vote.
You can also contact the electoral services helpline on 442184 where staff will be able to help you.
