FROM playing on the streets of Warrington as children to travelling the world life has taken Ron and Maureen Ellison far and wide.
The couple are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today, Thursday, in the far more sedate surroundings of their Dover Road home in Latchford.
But after tying the knot at Warrington Registrar’s Office the couple soon found themselves travelling the world.
Ron, aged 77, said: “I was conscripted into the Army around 1956 and after being based at Penisula Barracks it started 10 years service which took us to Hong Kong, the Isle of Man, Plymouth, Germany, Catterick and for me a year in Swaziland.”
He and Maureen, aged 78, credit their time away as a great foundation for marriage, and travel proved their secret to a long and happy marriage.
On returning the couple settled in their Latchford home.
The couple have three children, four grandchildren a great grandson - Magnus - and great grandchild on the way.
The pair will celebrate with a meal with family and friends.
