Teenagers tackle youth challenge event

Warrington Guardian: Clr Jean Carter Clr Jean Carter

TEENAGERS in the town put their heads together to challenge key decision makers about what they had done to achieve the priorities set out in Warrington’s Integrated Youth Strategy.

Young people aged 13 to 19 were invited to the Youth Café, the Skills Bank and the Careers Centre to attend the youth challenge event in May.

Clr Jean Carter, executive board member for children and young people’s services, said the feedback from young people and professionals was ‘positive’.

She said: “Young people were pleased to have the chance to make their voice heard and to find out about services, and professionals valued receiving direct feedback from their service users.”

“The challenge now is to make sure that the council and its partner agencies respond to what we have been told and amend the Integrated Youth Strategy to make sure that it meets the needs of young people across the borough.”

So did you tell people at this event about the savage cuts to the very services they will be accessing???? Did you tell them that these cuts would be delayed until after you were all elected locally?? Shame on you labour councillors

Yes significantly cut have a look on the council website in committee minutes for all the other cuts coming which will mean less frontline services.

I thought this council were all about the kids. Why havent we heard from Labour yoof champion Tom Jennings about this? He was very animated about the signs for the swing bridge before the election..surely this story is more befitting of his skills. What says the..what does he call himself...oh yeah...the socialist pied piper of Warrington's youth?

Kids..I think you've been sold down the river. You need a voice in the Town Hall that isn't full of his own self-importance. Every man has his price and Tom's was...Grappenhall! I hope your new champion steps up soon before you have nothing left to fight for
