HELEN Jones MP helped Green Lane School to commemorate the start of the First World War.
The Warrington North MP joined pupils in planting Flanders poppy seeds as part of a project from the Royal British Legion and B&Q to plant poppies in remembrance.
Helen Jones and headteacher Paul King joined pupils of the school to sow the seeds at the new school site in Woolston.
Mrs Jones said: “The Royal British Legion’s Centenary Poppy Campaign is a wonderful way to help commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the start of the First World War. It would be fantastic if we could achieve the goal of recreating the imagery of a land decorated with Flanders poppies.
“When they bloom the poppies will bring colour to the new school site as well as making Green Lane School part of the countrywide commemorations.“
