AN unlucky youngster had to be rescued by fire crews after he got stuck in a playground on Andover Close in Padgate.

Firefighters used tools to free the 11-year-old boy trapped by wire on the children's play area after the alarm was raised last night, Monday, at 7.15pm.

A North West Ambulance spokesman said paramedics found the boy wedged between a rope and ladder around his waist.

He had no obvious injuries but was taken to Warrington Hospital as a precaution.
