A MAN has been arrested after police raided a suspected brothel in Stockport and what officers have described as ‘an associated address’ in Culcheth.
A spokesman said computers, bank statements and business papers had been seized during the searches yesterday, Thursday.
A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of keeping/managing a brothel used for prostitution and bailed pending further inquiries.
Inspector Scott Winters said: "Following concerns raised by a local councillor that this address was being used as a brothel, a multi-agency investigation was launched to look into the allegations.
"As a result, ourselves and our partner agencies carried out these warrants and as a result, the running of a suspected brothel has been disrupted and a man arrested.
"Computers are currently in the process of being forensically examined and we will now be seeking the relevant authorisation to examine bank accounts with a view to applying for a formal closure and stop this premise from being used as an illegal brothel."
