GOLDEN Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) has done its bit to help raise awareness for Dementia Awareness Week.

The trust, which gained dementia friendly status earlier this year organised a series of events which helped it to reach its target of creating 50 new dementia friends.

Events included a dementia learning lunch, a dementia tea dance for residents along with advice available on services from the Alzheimer’s Society.

Chief executive Peter Mercer said: “We want to ensure our staff and customers are well equipped to deal with the changing profile of the Borough and are able to offer the best possible service to all of our tenants.

“The events were a great success and the feedback from staff and residents who attended said that they found it both interesting and eye opening.”

Jo Hawkins, operations manager for Alzheimer's Society in Cheshire, added: "We would like to thank Golden Gates Housing Trust for all their support this Dementia Awareness Week. We want anyone who is concerned about dementia to not bottle it up and talk to us. We are here to help, support and advise.”
