A MASTERPLAN for the Wilderspool site is planned ‘soon’ according to the development team who bought the land.

Warrington Wolves played its last game at the famous old ground on Thursday.

A spokesman for Wire Regeneration said: ‘Wilderspool Stadium has been purchased by Wire Regeneration Limited which is a recently formed joint venture between developer Langtree and Warrington Borough Council.

“Wire Regeneration has already commenced work on the upgrade of Wharf Industrial Estate and is soon to start on the production of a masterplan for the Southern Gateway area of Warrington.

“The masterplan will set out proposed future uses for the area which includes the Wilderspool Stadium site.”
