THE wife of a Grappenhall drugs lord has started the process to appeal her sentence.

Diane Brookhouse was found guilty of helping to run her husband Richard’s £12m cocaine ring and was sentenced to 14 years behind bars earlier this year.

A judicial office spokesman confirmed the 42-year-old, of Coronation Avenue, has lodged an application for permission to appeal.

He added: “The next stage is that this would be considered by a single judge on the papers and if he grants permission to appeal it would go ahead to a hearing.

“As yet no decision has been made.”

It is not yet known when the appeal will be before a judge.

During the trial the court heard Brookhouse had splashed cash on botox, fillers and a designer handbag while on benefits and played a ‘significant and necessary role’ in the drugs ring.
