THE former St Margaret’s Infants School has been transformed into a community centre after staff from Sellafield’s Risley office gave the site a much-needed makeover.

The Smile Centre in Orford is the home of charities and community groups that benefit the local area including sports clubs, Morris dancers, children’s adventure clubs and family support groups.

Home-Start Warrington are also planning to relocate to the centre in the next few weeks.

Pauline Deans, Sellafield corporate responsibility manager, said: “We have a long history of supporting our local communities, and this year’s challenge needed people with painting, joinery and gardening skills.

“The group has been hard at work painting sixteen areas indoors, as well as outside painting, gardening and making some seating area in the inner courtyard.”
