MOST children who need foster carers are in care because of absue or neglect according to the head of fostering in the town.

Christine Howley spoke of the importance of finding more people to offer a home to children in need as Foster Care Fortnight gets under way.

And in the next two weeks videos featuring interviews with foster carers will be available from Warrington Borough Council’s YouTube channel.

She said: “We want to encourage people to consider fostering, and hearing the stories of people who have already fostered could help potential foster carers make their decision to come forward.

“We’ve also launched a ‘Guess Who Fosters’ quiz on our website and might help people realise that they’d be eligible to become a foster carer.

“You might decide you’d like to hear more about becoming a foster carer, and Warrington definitely needs a lot more people to take that step and help change lives through fostering.”
