THE Alzheimer’s Society is calling on residents to ‘open up about dementia’ and stop bottling up concerns this Dementia Awareness Week.

Various events are taking place throughout the town including the dementia community roadshow at Birchwood Shopping Centre on Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm as well as information stands at Sainsbury's Church Street on Monday.

Mandy Gough, services manager for Alzheimer’s Society Warrington, said: “Dementia has replaced cancer as the health condition people fear most.

“We all bury our heads in the sand from time to time but it is important to seek help.

“The sooner you know what you’re dealing with, the sooner you can get on with your life and feel in control again.
