STAFF have continued to hand customers their prescriptions in Culcheth despite one man attempting to turn the Co-op pharmacy into a drive-through.

Two men have been arrested and charged after a car smashed into the building on Lodge Drive on Friday evening.

But employees did not let that stop them from doing their job on Monday.

Staff have been passing patients their medication through a boarded up door after customers were stopped from entering the chemist due to health and safety reasons.

A spokesman for the Co-operative Pharmacy said: “The branch has sustained substantial damage to its shop front following a car crash on Friday night.

“Staff are keen to help ensure local people can still access our services and we are continuing to dispense prescriptions and medication, although we unfortunately cannot allow customers into the branch because of the damage.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and we hope to have the branch repaired as soon as possible.”

It is not yet known when the chemist will fully re-open but the spokesman added staff will also be directing customers to other health services for additional support if they need it.
