THE Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has made a '100 per cent promise' that the Government will support the Peace Centre.

The Tatton MP paid a visit to the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace this afternoon to see how Government funding will help the centre.

He stepped in to offer emergency funding for the Survivors for Peace programme at this year's budget after National Lottery funding dried up.

And after chatting with people who have benefited from the scheme he said the Government would help to find money to keep the project going.

Mr Osborne said: "There is a 100 per cent promise the project will get the support it needs. The question is how best to deliver that.

"It's something David Mowat brought to my attention when it was running into trouble."

Speaking after the visit, Mr Mowat said: "It was a pleasure to welcome the Chancellor to Warrington today to show him how the Government's money is helping people in Warrington and around the country.

"The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace is an iconic Warrington charity, which I am proud to support both here in Warrington and in Parliament."
