COMMUNITY groups across the town can get their hands on up to £500 in funding from Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT).

The housing trust has launched the latest round of its Community Sponsorship Fund where groups, social enterprises and individuals can bid for up to £500 for those in areas where GGHT has homes.

Whether you want to use the money to pay towards events, activities, equipment hire or training sessions you can put your ideas forward to the trust’s website.

Last year 62 groups benefited from the fund and the money helped to support arts, dance and drama groups, community fun days and safety projects.

The Hand On Heart charity received £500 to part fund a defibrillator at Woolston CE Primary School.

Head teacher Anne Jones said: “We are very grateful for the donation of a defibrillator for our school. We hope we never have to use it but realise that if the situation arose it could help us to save somebody’s life.”
