WARRINGTON is famous for vodka.

It is also the birthplace of George Formby and The Black Prince had all his armour made in the town.

That is if Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth are to be believed as their characters from The Railway Man chat fondly about Warrington – and suggest stopping off in the town – in this scene from the film.

While trying to impress Kidman's character Patti, Firth, playing Eric Lomax, said: "Warrington was really the only place to go if you wanted a suit of armour – a sort of Savile Row of steel."

The scene on the train is not Warrington's only connection to the film as screenwriter Andy Paterson grew up in Culcheth.
