A GREAT SANKEY family is bidding to be crowned the UK’s savviest family after discovering how to beat the credit crunch.
Mum Nicola Phipps, aged 30, dad Richard Wedge, aged 34, son James Wedge, aged five, and daughter Amy Wedge, aged one, have been shortlisted in the annual money-saving advice competition, Nectar Savvy Family.
The money conscious family was selected as one of only eight finalist families chosen to keep a savvy blog for six weeks.
Nicola said: “We have always been quite savvy but have been even more careful with money since having the two children.
“We have lived a savvy lifestyle for around five years. Being chosen to compete in the competition, blog with seven other great families and share our ideas with others has been amazing.”
The family deemed the savviest will be treated to a £10,000 prize package from Nectar partners, which includes a family holiday worth up to £3,000 from Expedia and £1,000 gift card from Sainsbury’s.
The family’s top tips include completing your food shop later in the day to make the most of reductions and signing up to theme parks and playarea newsletters to be the first to hear about deals and offers on days out.
