A DRUNK woman who terrified a mum and her two children when she booted their car after ‘stumbling’ into the road told a court she is a ‘good mother’.

Mum-of-two Natalie Louise Wright, aged 31, of Steers Close, Latchford, kicked the Citroen Picasso on Knutsford Road, while with her 11-year-old son.

Halton Magistrates Court heard on Thursday how the victim was in the car returning home after picking up her children, aged 8 and 10, from Cubs.

Alison Warburton, prosecuting, said the victim was at traffic lights but when they changed to green had to brake as a woman had ‘stumbled’ in front of the car.

“The victim sounded her horn,” said Mrs Warburton.

“The defendant put two fingers up. She appeared to shout something but the victim could not hear her.

“The defendant approached the rear passenger door where her daughter was sitting.

“She appeared to hit the door and kicked something, and stumbled back to the pavement.”

The court heard the family were ‘stunned and scared’ by the attack.

Wright also shouted ‘ go on, call the police’, and threatened to hit the mother.

Witnesses reported there could have been a serious accident if she had not stopped the car, the court heard.

Police attended to find Wright ‘swaying at the side of the road’ and a footprint on the car.

She told officers she had drunk six pints and was ‘five or six’ on a scale of drunkenness out of ten.

Defending herself on Thursday, Wright told the court she had stopped taking medication for mental health problems.

She said: “It was out of character. I’m a very good mother.

“I don’t think it was as serious as all that.

“I do take responsibility for my actions and I just want this to be over.”

After being asked by District Judge Bridget Knight if she would like to be treated in such a way, Wright added: “I wouldn’t go for a child.

“I’m very responsible with children.”

The defendant was told to pay £250 in compensation and costs after pleading guilty to criminal damage.
