FIRE crews were called to free two motorists trapped in cars following crashes within two days over the weekend.

The first incident involved three cars with one person cut free by firefighters on Manchester Road on Friday at 1pm.

A Cheshire Fire spokesman said the crew removed the roof of one of the vehicles to free the casualty who was then handed over to paramedics.

Firefighters were called to a second car crash on Saturday at 12.15pm after two cars were involved in the collision in Winwick at the junction of Newton Road and Golborne Road.

Crews cut the roof away of one of the vehicles involved in the two-car collision and rescued the casualty before paramedics took over.
