Karlar says...

Elections for the European parliament are about as convincing as those for the National People’s Congress of China. They are a con. Both espouse and at the same time make a mockery of democracy. Their members, our representatives in the case of the EP, have very limited powers. They can’t put forward any legislation, they only rubber stamp what the European Commission – a unelected body – proposes. They can reject the EP’s budget; but EP's own auditors have been doing that for years because it’s been repeatedly exceeded and are fiddled. Elections for the EP are a pointless exercise and waste of money, our money.
I'll leave someone else to explain the worth or relevance of the local elections.
