EACH month we will be highlighting the work of a local charity making a difference in the town.

This week we meet one of the volunteers supporting maternity bereavement cause Harry and Co.

GORSE Covert couple Aidan Dickenson and Erin Cooper said they were more than happy to support the cause even if it does mean Aidan occasionally having to spend his weekends in unbearable heat.

The 24-year-old volunteered to play charity mascot Harry Bear and says he loves his role and furry costume even during soaring temperatures in the summer.

The Asda distribution employee, of Flaxley Close, said: “I saw on Facebook Kate (Tinker, founder of Harry and Co) was looking for someone to dress up as Harry Bear and I got in touch with her straight away as we had been through the same thing as her.

“It’s good fun going to different events through the year and seeing the kids smiling faces even when it’s hot in the summer.”

Erin and Aidan suffered the heartbreak of losing their child Lilly-Rose, who was stillborn at 40 weeks and three days of Erin’s pregnancy in September 2012.

They turned to the charity Harry and Co, set up by Old Hall couple Kate and Chris Tinker after their son Harry was stillborn, and said the support they have had from the cause has been fantastic.

Aidan added: “We were both in shock as losing Lilly-Rose was something we didn’t expect.

“We went into the hospital expecting to come out with our baby and then we were told she had died.

“Erin found the charity and joined in with one of their ‘Angels’ Walks’ and they have supported us a lot and it’s really helped.

“Erin always likes to help them out now whenever we can.”

Next week we look to the future including the cause’s fourth annual ‘Angels’ walk’ next Sunday.
