THE principal of Lymm High School has resigned, the Warrington Guardian can reveal.

Angela Walsh, who has held the position at the school on Oughtrington Lane since 2008, was suspended in June pending an investigation.

Speculation was rife following the sudden suspension of Ms Walsh, but Mr Walshe was unable to comment on the investigation any further amid fears it could jeopardise proceedings.

But her departure was alleged to be linked to the high turnover of staff and the implementation of ‘petty’ rules during her headship.

Following the suspension of Ms Walsh, Tarun Kapur was appointed as the executive principal of the school.

Under Mr Kapur’s leadership, the school was graded as good by Ofsted after inspectors visited the school in December.

Mr Walshe said: “The school is making great progress, under the leadership of Tarun Kapur, who will be continuing in that role.

“We want to build for the future on the very good Ofsted report the school achieved, through the hard work of all the school staff.

“Their professionalism and commitment to the school and the children is a great strength.

“Right now, the staff and students are very focused on getting the best possible exam results in the summer, and on next term’s activities like the forthcoming production of Midsummer Night’s Dream, and many other sporting and musical events.”
