New boss confirmed at Network Warrington after failed round of interviews

NETWORK Warrington has appointed a new interim managing director.

Damien Graham will take on the role for the next six months.

Mr Graham has worked for the company for more than 36 years.

He takes over from Ann-Marie Slavin. She had the caretaker role since David Squire left the business last year.

Chairman of the bus company Maureen Banner said: “We are delighted that Damian has accepted this role and I, the board of Network Warrington and the shareholder give him our full support in his new position.”

The Warrington Guardian understands the appointment came about after a failed round of interviews to find a permanent replacement for Mr Squire.

A spokesman said his immediate role will be to undertake a review of all departments to make sure that the company remains sustainable for the foreseeable future.

This company has only one shareholder, why? I admit that I assume it to be WBC, but I am not entirely sure.

I wonder why Cllr Brian Axcell is also a Director of this company too!

No one else has the confidence to invest in it.

Probably an ex officio post harking back to when Lib/Cons were the controlling administration.

His Directorship hasn't been terminated though.

...Let me guess. They'll make the appointment permanent in 6 months. Were these the same candidates that went for the WBC chief exec position?

Yes she is but like PAGE A says " they'll make the appointment permanent in 6 months'. Mrs Slavin was a breath of fresh air who tried to bring the company into the 21st century. She even SPOKE to and LISTENED to the staff and the customers. Shame on her. Not what WBT wanted. She is back to her original Finance Director position.

Mrs Slavin improved the working conditions of so many staff in the last year. She done this as she actually cares. She improved routes by taking on board customer comments . She saved all our jobs and the company by making tough and unpopular decisions. I am Very disappointed that she didn't make the grade.
