THE town’s adoption and fostering services are the focus of a new documentary on Channel Four.
Three part documentary ‘15,000 Kids and Counting’ looks at the complex process of adoption and fostering and gives an insight into the challenges that face families and social workers.
Warrington Borough Council’s shared adoption service, WWiSH, with neighbouring authorities Wigan and St Helens, features heavily in the films along with staff from the council’s targeted services department, foster carers, parents, and children.
Cllr Hitesh Patel, executive board member for the council, said: “The job of a social worker is extremely complex and the film shows that and the hard work they put in.
“It has been a long process taking part in the filming and a lot of work has gone on behind the scenes but we are glad to be part of something which will shed light on a very complicated and sensitive process.”
Catch the programme tonight, Thursday, at 9pm on Channel Four.
