A COMMEMORATIVE sculpture to mark the 20th anniversary of the Warrington bombings will be unveiled later this year.

The council is looking for businesses, individuals and community groups who would be interested in sponsoring the sculpture.

Artists Andy and Sharon Shaw, who were commissioned by the council to create the sculpture, have previously worked with schoolchildren to create their own artwork based on the themes of love, peace, hope and reconciliation.

The art work is currently on display at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery.

Deputy leader Clr Mike Hannon said: β€œIn the aftermath of the 1993 bombing, children came together and created the 12 discs that form part of the River of Life memorial in Bridge Street.

β€œI think it is very fitting that 20 years on, the next generation plays a similar role in creating a lasting legacy for the town.”
