THE champagne corks were popping to help a diamond duo celebrate their wedding anniversary.
It may not have been the celebration they planned but Audrey and Brian Weaver were wined and dined to mark their 60th wedding anniversary after the Warrington Guardian helped out.
As reported in last week’s paper the Woolston couple cancelled their plans for a trip away to celebrate their anniversary last Thursday after three men broke into their home while they were in.
Brian, aged 81, was attacked by one of the men when he confronted him and the trio made off with irreplaceable jewellery.
But on Thursday they enjoyed a three course champagne dinner at Le Bistrot Pierre, on London Road, Stockton Heath with son John and daughter-in-law Catherine.
Audrey, aged 78, said: “We really enjoyed the meal and our anniversary went really well.
“Our neighbours have been really good to us as well since it happened and we’d like to thank them all.”
