MOTORISTS have been warned that the westbound M56 between junction eight with the A556 at Bowdon and junction nine with the M6 at Lymm will only have a single running lane open to traffic from 11.30pm tonight Tuesday.
This is to allow sections of the hard shoulder to be resurfaced as part of the £2.86m project in the area to install a new concrete safety barrier in the central reservation.
To allow the project to be delivered safely, lane three in both directions is closed and the hard shoulder is being used as a running lane to keep three lanes running past the work in each direction during the day to minimise inconvenience to drivers.
Drivers are advised to check traffic and travel conditions before setting out on journeys.
