THE council say they are doing ‘everything possible’ to get the wall of tyres removed near to the Kingsway Bridge.
The owner of the land, Patrick Moran, of Glazebrook Lane, is currently appealing the council’s demands to remove the bales of tyres, which has been described as an ‘eyesore’ by motorists and nearby residents.
Moran, who represented himself, appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on March 5 along with a legal representative from Warrington Borough Council where the appeal was adjourned until May 21.
The council’s executive board member for environment and public protection, Clr David Keane, said: “The council are doing everything possible to address this issue.
“We are exploring all legal remedies open to us, to work around the limitations of the legislation in terms of the protracted timescales and ensure that the amenity of the area is protected in the best possible way.”
The tyres will remain on the land until the appeal decision has been made.
