A GREAT Sankey councillor is pushing to get a play area in Great Sankey renovated.
Clr Jean Carter (LAB - Great Sankey South) raised the state of the children’s play are at Marina Avenue park at Monday’s full council meeting at the Town Hall.
Clr Carter said: “I asked this question because a lot of local families have contacted me to ask if there is anything that can be done to improve the play area, especially for under eight-year-olds.
"The Labour administration is investing lots of funding into Walton Hall Gardens, Bank Park and other parks so I wanted to make sure that this play area is on their radar. But crucially, I also wanted a public commitment for action to get things done.”
Clr Kate Hannon, executive board member for communities, agreed to visit the park with Clr Carter to see the park for herself. She also agreed to convene a meeting with officers to plan how to bring the play area facilities up to standard.
Residents can put forward their opinions on what is needed at the park during drop-in sessions at Kings Community Centre, Marina Avenue, on Monday, from 10am to noon and Friday, April 4 from 10am to noon.
