WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has demanded that the council publish a risk assessment on setting up the University Technical College after it was discussed in a meeting, which is closed to the public.

The MP has written to the council leader and the chief executive asking them to publish the documents presented to the executive board.

As reported in the Warrington Guardian, education boss Clr Colin Froggatt resigned following the meeting over claims it would potentially affect current high schools in town.

Mrs Jones said: “Part two agendas should be used only for issues like commercial contracts. They are not intended to keep from the public information which they need to make an informed judgement on these proposals.

“It is only right that right that a Labour council should be transparent about its own decisions. People are entitled to know what the financial risks are and which high school might be at risk as a result.

“If this is a good proposal then the council has nothing to fear from publishing the papers and I hope they will do so.”
