THE town’s independent health watchdog has said NHS England has acted improperly closing Sankey Medical Centre without consulting the patients who are affected by the change.

Healthwatch Warrington is the latest organisation to criticise the move after the Warrington Guardian reported Great Sankey patients would now be treated in Orford.

Healthwatch has written to NHS England to ask whether the correct procedures to move/ close a surgery had been used.

Elaine Packer, Healthwatch Warrington manager, said: “Services cannot just be changed without warning, the health of people in Great Sankey is too important for that.

“To date a large number of patients affected have raised their concerns with Healthwatch Warrington which are all being logged and shared with the relevant bodies.”
