Bewsey school graded good by Ofsted
Updated 3:33pm Thursday 20th March 2014 in News
A BEWSEY primary school has seen its Ofsted rating improve after the school was praised for providing a ‘warm, welcoming and well-organised learning environment’.
Bewsey Lodge Primary School has jumped from satisfactory to good after Ofsted inspectors visited the school on February 26 and 27.
The school on Lodge Lane was graded as good in all four categories which includes achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.
In the report, published today, it read: “The school provides a wide range of enriched learning opportunities, especially in the use of information and communication technology, art and music.
“Teaching offers pupils many exciting opportunities to develop their thinking and the ability to work successfully in a team.”
The head teacher Emma Wright was commended for her ‘strong and aspirational leadership’ and is supported by an ‘effective governing body and highly committed staff’.
Inspectors were unable to award the school the highest rating due to inconsistencies in teaching and marking, untidy work presentation and handwriting by some pupils and leaders do not always provide clear plans, targets and timescales.
