A NEW digital project launched at Warrington Museum has become one of the first groups in the country to receive a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Sharing Heritage grant.

Our Past, Our Present Our Future has been given £9,800 which will be used to create three linked digital resources to teach schools and the wider community more about Warrington’s history.

Linked to the events to mark the 20th anniversary of the IRA bombing of Warrington in March last year, it will focus on Bridge Street and its part in the town’s history for the past 800 years.

The scheme will be split into three parts:

  •  A web based virtual library of downloadable resources, documents and people’s memories of the area
  •  The Guardian Game will take players on a virtual walk through time to rescue the Guardians (skittles) who have disappeared from Market Gate
  •  And school children will visit key locations, take pictures, search the Warrington Museum archives, study medieval artefacts and maps so they can gather the information needed to create the digital resources.
