POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man wielding a knife tried to rob someone on Greenwood Crescent on Tuesday night.

A 46-year-old man was walking along Greenwood Crescent near to Dunlin Close when he was approached by another man, who was carrying a knife, at 11.30pm.

He demanded money but when the victim told him he did not have any, he ran off.

Police say the victim was unhurt but left shaken by the incident.

The knife man is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build.

He was wearing a balaclava, grey top and dark bottoms and spoke with a local accent.

An investigation has been launched and officers are carrying out a number of enquiries in a bid to trace the offender.
