THE family of the owners of the Sankey Medical Centre building have said ‘blame can in no way lie with them’ over the closure and it is now unlikely the building will remain as a surgery.

As previously reported in the Warrington Guardian, the move to another practice in Orford has upset many patients in the Great Sankey area.

The owners of the building said they wanted to give their side of the story and make it clear that an offer was extended to GPs at the practice to renew the lease.

Bidhan Ganguly, the son of retired doctor and building owner Dr Ganguly, added: “They declined this offer which has lead to them vacating the premises.

“The owners wanted the surgery to remain in the community for many years to come, however it appears that the FPC (Family Practitioner Committee) did not share that particular vision and have failed to find new tenants despite the desire from the current owners to do so.”
