WARRINGTON has been flying the flag for Commonwealth Day.

A flag-raising ceremony at the Town Hall yesterday saw the Mayor of Warrington Clr Peter Carey join up with council leader and deputy leader Clr Terry O’Neill and Clr Mike Hannon along with deputy chief executive Katherine Fairclough to celebrate the occasion.

The borough’s population has an estimated 2,000 people whose origins lie in other Commonwealth countries.

And the Mayor read out an affirmation to mark the event.
