STAFF in a pharmacy next door to the recently closed Sankey Medical Centre have said patients have been in tears since the GP practice moved to Orford on Monday.

The Medicx pharmacy manager on Barrow Hall Lane Rose Seaward has written to the head of primary care in NHS England Cheshire, Warrington and Wirral to inform him of patients’ reactions and slam the way they have been treated.

The letter read: “The events of the past four weeks leading up to the closure of Sankey Medical Centre on February 28th make me feel that the only people neglected and forgotten in this sorry saga are the patients.

“They have been caught in the crossfire between two warring factions of GPs who could not resolve their differences.

“At no time in this process have patients views been sought, they were not consulted, they had no voice.

“A simple tick box exercise either by letter or text would have established their true feelings and revealed that the majority wished to have their GP services remain in Great Sankey.”

A spokesman for NHS England, Cheshire Warrington and Wirral, said it had not been possible to reach a ‘viable agreement’ with the site landlord for the practice to continue at its current location.
