A DOCTOR is calling on the town’s help to support her through a 24 hour ‘make-a-thon’.

Dr Kate Marley, consultant in palliative medicine at Warrington Hospital, will be taking part in the event on March 15 making comfort packs for relatives sitting at the bedsides of dying patients.

Hosted by ‘Making for Charity’, the cause is not looking for financial donations, only toiletry items and volunteers to take part to make the packs up.

Dr Marley added: “These packs will not only be of practical use for the relatives of dying people but will also let them know that at this most difficult and sad time, someone somewhere is thinking about them.”

A team of volunteers will spend 24 hours making comfort packs before they are distributed to Warrington Hospital and others in Southport, Aintree and Preston.

To make a donation, visit the League of Friends helpdesk Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm before Friday March 14.
