“IT’S not nice thinking about bombs but there is love and harmony in our painting.”

That is how one of the year six pupils from Penketh South Primary School involved in a special commemorative art project described their work to mark the anniversary of the Warrington bombing.

Children from across 20 schools have produced artwork which is going on display in a special exhibition at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery until June 21.

The exhibition called ‘Our Past Our Present Our Future’ represents the schoolchildren’s thoughts about peace, hope, friendship and love during workshops led by artists Andy and Sharon Shaw.

Clr Mike Hannon, deputy leader of the council, said: “The artwork that our schoolchildren have created is stunning and I have been inspired by their heartfelt thoughts and ideas about peace and reconciliation.

“Within Warrington, there is a real desire to ensure that we never forget the events of our past, including the tragic events that took place in Bridge Street on 20th March 1993.

“However, it is also important that we continue to look forward and continue to build a bright and positive future for our town.”
