A CHARITY is urging people to think about helping them by fundraising for them as they approach 10 years helping families.

Jump Children’s Charity is looking for businesses and those who want to make a difference to a local good cause.

The charity offers families of children with life limiting conditions the chance to have a professional photo shoot themed around their child’s favourite things.

Then the pictures are turned into a memory book for the family to keep.

And this August will mark 10 years since the charity was first set up by Christie Hawthorn and her family after her son Jacob’s death aged three after being diagnosed with congenital muscular dystrophy.

The family cherished their videos and photos with Jacob and decided to set up the charity in his name to offer other families the chance to create precious memory books which offer help through their child’s life and death.

Christine Bentham, chairman of Jump and Jacob’s grandmum, said: “It costs £280 for each memory.

“It doesn’t matter if its a raffle that raises £100 or doing the Warrington Half Marathon, anything people can do to help us is fantastic.

“We want to put together a fundraising pack for anyone interested in helping out.”

The charity has already benefited from help from businesses including BiG Storage who donate toys from its annual toy appeal run with help from the Warrington Guardian and McCarthy Retail, based in Woolston.

Now 10 years down the road for the charity it is looking to create new revenue streams including creating its own Jump Imaging community interest company which offers photographers and pictures of children with different needs.

The service is payable but all profits go straight back in to the charity.

“Now for us it’s about getting Jump set for the future when we are another 10 years down the line,” added Christine. “It’s just starting to take off. There are quite a lot of families who do not want the charity and would rather pay but we would offer it at a reasonable cost with specialist photographers.”

Jump is also looking for people who can volunteer their time to help out - whether as someone who can help with admin such as sending out thank you cards or feedback forms to those who could help coordinate memories.

And the board is also looking for people who would like to join them as trustees who could also bring skills in financial management, fundraising, human resources or admin.
